Utz Mini Pretzels - Chocolate & Butterfinger Coated

Hi there! I’m hoping to post more often than once a month. Time will tell. Anyway, I recently ran across this snack and I was very intrigued. I don’t know if it is new or not, but I had to try it.

How could these possibly be anything but delicious? Salty pretzels? Check. Milk chocolate? Check. Butterfinger candy pieces (quite possibly my favorite candy bar)? Check.

I was so excited to try these I forgot to take a picture of the pretzel. But there is no reason to do this, since it looks exactly like the pretzel pictured on the bag. As for taste, these are delicious. The Butterfinger is not overpowering, and the chocolate and candy pieces elevate the lowly pretzel into a higher echelon of snack. I don’t know if that last sentence made sense, but I like the sound of it, so I’m keeping it.

The pretzels really aren’t that “mini”, in my opinion. They are a good size, and 5 pretzels count as a serving (which is ridiculous, but that is what it says on the bag). As you can probably guess, these aren’t “good for you”, but it’s a snack for crying out loud. Just don’t eat the whole bag and you’ll be fine.

Grippo’s Pretzel Loops

Having had a previous negative experience with Grippo’s brand of snacks, I decided to try their pretzels to see if it was just a fluke, and to confirm whether or not Grippo’s (the fun food company, as I have been told) is capable of making a decent snack.

These are called pretzel ‘loops’, but pretzel ‘tear drops’ would be more accurate for two reasons:

   #1: The pretzels are shaped like tear drops instead of ‘loops’.

   #2: They are EXTREMELY SALTY.

Now, I like salty pretzels, so I didn’t really find this off-putting. But if you don’t like salty pretzels, then don’t eat these, because boy howdy are they salty. I found them to be a perfectly cromulent (look it up) pretzel snack, so feel free to give these a try. They sure were better than those nasty barbecue sugar chips that I previously tried, although I will probably try those again as well just to give them another chance. Being a big fan of barbecue chips, I want to like them.

Pick some of these pretzels up if you get the chance and let me know what you think. These are a regional snack, so you might have trouble finding them. If you can’t find them, don’t sweat it. Pick up some Rold Gold or Snyder’s, they are just as good (if not better). Happy snacking!

Review: Lean Pockets Mesquite BBQ Chicken Pretzel Bread Sandwiches

Sorry for the week of no posts, I was out of town. But you’re not here to hear me (or see me) make excuses. You want snack reviews! So let’s look at another New! lean pocket.

I really like these Pretzel Bread lean pockets! There is just something about the bread that elevates it from a diet tasting food to a legitimate snack choice. It is also a GOOD SOURCE of PROTEIN.

The BBQ sauce in this is pretty nice, though you really can’t taste much of the red onions. Be careful when cooking, though, as I burnt the roof of my mouth. I guess the pocket contents were hotter than I thought! It still tasted good, though.

Review: Snyder’s of Hanover York Peppermint Pretzel Sandwich Dips

See what I mean? I have always enjoyed Peppermint Patties (except for the one on the Charlie Brown cartoons…she always struck me as a little annoying and overbearing). However, not everybody is a big fan of these candies. I have heard my friends joke before, “I don’t know whether to eat these or to rub them on my sore back!” Still, I think the dark chocolate and mint is a refreshing combination.

I also enjoy Snyder’s of Hanover’s pretzel products (their Hot Buffalo and Jalapeno pretzel bites are especially awesome). But I hadn’t tried these new pretzel sandwiches, so I thought I would give them a shot. They are pretty good, with a nice mix of pretzel flavor adding to the familiar peppermint patty flavor. A great snack, and one you should try if you are a fan of chocolate covered pretzels or peppermint patties.

Review: Lean Pockets Pretzel Bread Roasted Turkey with Bacon and Cheese Sandwich

Wasn’t that a nice walk down memory lane? Can you believe that was 17 years ago?

Now that I am feeling old, let’s change the subject and talk about the latest Lean Pocket I tried. Roasted turkey, bacon and cheese isn’t really new, but I hadn’t tried the pretzel bread before. Let’s take a look at the opened packaging of this Hot Lean Pocket.

It’s definitely different from the traditional bread. You can see the salt and everything. And thankfully, it has a pocket. I’m still reeling over that Limited Edition Debacle.

This is a pretty great lean pocket. The smell coming fresh out of the microwave (as fresh as a frozen meal gets, anyway) is very appealing. What I appreciated the most is that it doesn’t really taste like a diet food item to me. The turkey, cheese and bacon work together great. The pretzel bread is an awesome addition, and really ties the flavors together in a pleasant way. Pair this pocket with your favorite chips (or pretzels, if you dare!), and you have a satisfying lunch option. Must be the pretzels!
